Long Time, No Write

So, it's been over a week since I wrote a post. What's happened? Hmm.

Last Wednesday (June 18th) my birthday present from Russell arrived in the mail...*drumroll*...a BREADMAKER!!! Yay me! Lol he always gets me exactly what I ask for cuz he hates having to come up with ideas and I like being able to get what I actually want, as opposed to what people think/assume I want. So I love it, with the exception of the recipe book it comes with. It doesn't tell you times for any of the recipes! I decided to use it the day we got it, set it up and washed the pan and put all the stuff in for one of the recipes, then started it...and saw on the breadmaker screen that the baking time for that recipe was 2 hours, 53 minutes. That was at 5 pm, and we were planning on going to bed at like 6ish (yes, we seem old by this...but we get up at 3-4 in the morning, so give us a little credit for trying to get 8 hours sleep). So we started a movie, to try to stay awake and stuff, but gave up at 7. I set my alarm for 7:55 so that I could get up, take it out of the pan, and put it in a ziploc bag. Stupid me, I set it for 7:55 AM, not PM, so then at like midnight I got up to go pee and realized the bread was still sitting in there...so I took it out and set it on the counter, then in the morning had to wrestle it out of the pan. The top had sunk in and all of the moisture seemed to have settled at the bottom of the loaf, so the top was hard as a rock and the bottom was soggy. Bad start for my breadmaker. I used the dough setting over the weekend to make an Onion Cheese Focaccia (recipe here). That one came out well...am looking forward to using it for more stuff, I have all kinds of recipes (another link I discovered...go here for a TON of breadmaker recipes! It's like a treasure trove of recipes for bread machines, seriously.)

We went house-hunting both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend, and we now have it narrowed down to six, which is a big deal since we started with at least a hundred. It's way exciting, there's so many things I (we, lol) could do with a house that we can't with an apartment. Paint the walls...have our own washer and dryer...have a garden...have a dog!!! The possibilities are endless! Another benefit is the privacy. We won't have anyone parking behind our quad and scooter ever again!

Travis flew out to Kansas yesterday morning. He stayed the night Tuesday night and then I drove him to the airport yesterday. I had some extra time since I'd switched to a later work shift for the day, so I went to the YMCA and visited one of my friends from when I used to work there. Hadn't seen her in a loong time, almost a year, I think...so it was great being able to catch up on everything. Things have changed so much at the Y...I used to practically live there (as all do who work there), and it's amazing how much has changed (for the worse, mostly) since I've been gone. It makes me glad I'm not working there anymore but sad for the ones who still are. They've got it tough.

I'm reading the book Skinny Bitch...forgive the language. :) It's a great book, it's basically all about what's good for your body and what's bad for it. It has the truth about all the food companies (you can't really trust anybody), and helps you out in figuring out what to eat and where you can get it. It's really helpful.
