It's So Hot All of the Water Buffalo at the Phoenix Zoo Evaporated

The title of today's post is from what Russell just texted me. Ver batim. I love having such a goofy husband. He keeps me smiling. :)

So, Saturday night our quad almost got stolen. Since I'm lazy, and also because I don't want to leave out anything, I'm just going to copy from an e-mail I sent my co-worker earlier, telling her about it: First of all, we keep the quad in the same parking space where we park the car. There's a telephone pole right in front of the curb we park the car at, so we put the quad straddling the curb, with the front wheels up by the telephone pole and the back wheels behind the curb, and we have it locked (with two locks) to the telephone pole. So we were coming home, it was about 10:30 pm, and when we pulled into the parking lot there was a truck (the people were in the cab, the engine was running, the headlights were on) backed into our spot. We just thought they had pulled in to turn around, because they just pulled out of the space, onto the street, and drove away. A cop pulled into the parking lot right behind us (no siren/lights), and one of our neighbors, whose apartment is right by a 4 or 5 foot wall that faces our parking spot, he had jumped up onto the wall and was yelling at the cop while pointing to the truck that just pulled out, yelling "That's them, that's them!!" So basically, we had no clue what was going on, and he told us he was standing outside smoking when he saw them pull up and back into our spot (so the back of their truck was facing our quad). There's lights over the parking area but none by his apartment, and it was nighttime so he could see them but they couldn't see him. He saw them pull out these 3-4 foot bolt cutters, and when they headed back to the quad he realized they were trying to steal it. So he grabbed the phone and called the cops, and he gave them a description of the truck (he couldn't see the license plate, since the truck was facing him). He had one of those metal security doors, and after he called the cops, his girlfriend came out and when she closed the door it clanked since it was metal, so the guys heard that and that's why they hopped in the truck and drove off. He said they were only gone a minute or so when they came back and backed in again. That's when we pulled up, so they just pulled out and acted like nothing was going on. The cop was right behind us and the guy who'd seen them yelled and pointed, but I guess the cop didn't realize why he was doing that (I'm giving the cop the benefit of the doubt here). So...we have two locks chaining the quad to the telephone pole, one is a cable lock and one is a chain lock. They'd almost cut all the way through the cable but they didn't have time to get to the chain. The cops are gonna be on the lookout, but without a license plate number we probably aren't going to find them. It really sucks that they got away but at least they didn't get the quad. It really irks me that they were still there when we pulled in. Had we known what they were doing, we could've blocked them in and they wouldn't have been able to get away. Russell and I have been looking to buy a house, and this happening makes me want a house even more. The quad will be safer because we can keep it in the backyard where nobody can see it.

Anyway, other than that the weekend was uneventful. Due to inspiration from Russell's Aunt Nancy, I'm going to start posting pictures up here. Most of them will be random, since I don't have much in particular to post pictures of, but hope you all enjoy. My first pictures:
This is an old purse of mine, I think I might still have it, but I kept it for so long it started falling apart so it wasn't really functional and I had to get a new one. It didn't come like this, originally it was just a $5 (cheapo) patchwork purse from Wal Mart. I painted it with nail polish (probably several days worth of painting, after it was all said and done), and voila! A beautiful work of art! (in my opinion) Here's another pic:

A lot went into this next one...it started as a normal picture of Blue, from Blue's Clues (does it weird out anyone else that Blue is a girl, and Magenta, Blue's pink friend, is a boy???). Anyways, I used to work in the day care area of the YMCA, and there were many times when we had no kids and lots of time. So, we colored! It was during one such time that I made this lovely creation. I was going for something like fireworks, but it turned out looking more like tie-dye. No complaints from me, though. I like the way it came out, then also the special effects on the camera phone made it look pretty awesome.

And now, my daily (at least for each day I post on here) links!

i must say, i don't miss the heat! i find it slightly amusing when people complain about the heat here. 90 is usually equated with fire. lol.

now on a more important note, i LOVE that purse. christmas is coming and i will definitally accept a creative gift whenever one exists. i would take the one you already made but if it does not function it's a no-go because i love to show of my "funky" style. i recently was gifted a black purse with yellow polks-dots. its fab. i will post a pic soon to share. again did i say i LOVE that patchwork design?
