Not Much New...

...but I feel the need to post. Because I can. And...because I'm on my lunch, I have 15 minutes left (of a 30-min. lunch), and nothing to do. There's work to do, but I'm on my lunch, so I'd rather do something else with the time they give me for myself (and also, it's not paid, so why should I be working??). I would be eating, but I'm not. The long story behind the fact that I'm not eating lunch on my lunch break:

As some of you may know, we had a crazy storm last night. "Monsoon Season" sometimes means, "Yay, it's sprinkling! Oh...it stopped.", but other times means, "Gosh, it's hot", then (five minutes later) "It's raining so hard I can't see the road, and there's palm fronds flying everywhere!!" (meant to be muttered while driving). In last night's case, it was the latter. According to the news, it started at about 8:30 last night, but keep in mind, that's approximate. We went to bed at about 8:15, and although I hadn't looked outside in while; it was extremely hot, without a cloud in sight, when we got home at about 7. So waking up last night to hear the thunder pounding and the rain pelting the roof and rushing out the gutters outside of our bedroom window was kind of surprising. I'm not sure if the rain woke me up, or if Russell did, but once I realized what was going on, Russell was asking me if I'd set the alarm on my cell phone. I told him yes, but had no idea why he was asking, because I was half-awake and somewhat angry with him for trying to talk to me while I was sleeping happily. He let me know the power went out, which meant his alarm clock wouldn't be going off in the morning (unless he waited for the power to come back on, and then re-set his alarm), so we'd be relying on my cell phone to wake us up (thank God for battery-powered devices...what else would we have to depend on when power outtages happen?). So, skipping ahead a little bit...this morning the power was on at home and we got ready as usual. On my way to work I passed a couple of (major) intersections where the power was out, and cars were just racing through them. Kind of scary for me, being on a scooter in the dark (I have a headlight, but it's small). I made absolutely sure no one was coming, then crossed as quickly as I could, since I wasn't sure if they'd see me or not (they weren't paying attention to the traffic lights being off, so it's entirely possible that they wouldn't have noticed me, either). I drove around a tree that fell directly onto Indian School Road, and was a little worried when I saw a telephone pole leaning toward the road, held up only by the wires coming from the poles on either side of it. When I got to work, everyone was standing outside in the dark (no power=dark building, and apparently no one had a flashlight). We stood around and talked, and were told that we may be sent home, but just in case they got the power back, we needed to stay. After a while, someone brought flashlights so we came inside, but still just sat around. After a almost two hours (about 7:15), they got everything running again. So we had to work. In the meantime, we'd cleaned out the refrigerators (threw away all the food that was going bad due to the power outtage), including my cream cheese (for my bagel) and the frozen pizza I'd brought for lunch. At 8, one of the girls decided to order delivery from a place called the Light Rail Cafe. So, since I'd thrown my lunch away, I figured I'd better take advantage of probably the only chance I'd have for food all day, and I ordered an omelette with toast. It came at about 9, and boy, was it good! I'd like to go there sometime with Russell (or anybody, for that matter), but sadly, they're not open on weekends. By the time my lunchtime came around at ten, I was just finishing the yummy omelette and toast. So, that's the story of how I came to be writing a blog post on my lunch.

One of the reasons I wanted to post today was because I've discovered several websites in the past couple of days that I've been really excited to share! Here they are:
-I'm making these this weekend.
-Click one of the pictures, then after it's big you can just keep clicking on it to switch to the next one. SO COOL!
-Try to click the ball. If it changes color, you've succeeded!
-Not a big fan of this blog, but this is really funny.
-This woman has 12 kids! And she still has time to blog!!
-This link I got from Russell's Aunt Nancy's blog, I went to it and this is the first thing I noticed: Go here and in the third box from the left across the middle of the page, it says "Infinite One-of-a-kind-ness!"...in that box, there's three people. Wearing the same shirt. Do they not understand what one of a kind means?!?
